Hikvision Camera Driver using H264 on the sub stream
Are you picking the right CAMERA or NVR DRIVER?
The Hikvision Camera Driver H264 Sub Stream is to be used if the cameras are plugged into a POE switch (Note use POE+ switch for best results) and not connected to NVR.
The Hikvision DS-7600 Series NVR Control4 Driver License is for new installations using latest controllers and touchscreens and cameras are plugged into the NVR. Note if you have a few ip cameras plugged into poe+ switches if you have room on nvr add manually,
The Hikvision DS-7716 Series NVR Control4 Driver License is for legacy installations. Use this if you have no current controllers or touchscreens.
If you have mix of legacy touchscreen, a new EA controller and a DS-7716 contact support and ask for level 2 tech info.
By using the sub stream of the cameras we now have no restrictions on the record quality on the NVR.
In the past the drivers used the main stream and where restricted to 720p for best display on T3 with no green lines.
We as Control4 dealers until the EA1, EA3, EA5 controllers and T3 touchscreens and 2.8.1 composer was released,
had to set the main stream to H264 and limit it to 720p because that was the best setting on the T3 touchscreens (no green lines) and the sub stream to MPEG. This would limit what a NVR resolution it could record at.
Now that we can use H264 on all our projects, I have written all my drivers to take advantage of the sub stream set to display H264 at 640*480 or 704*480 for the projects. The main stream H264 at 1920*1080p for a 2.1 megapixel camera or 2048*1536 for 3.1 megapixel camera.
For projects using 2.8.1 and above .
For EA controllers and T3 touchscreens only.
