Quick Control Pro – The primary purpose of this application was to provide a single interface that allows someone to control an entire project without ever having to change the room the touch screen is controlling. The Pro Version will allow you to control as many rooms AV devices as you want, Lights, Light Scenes, Blinds/Shades and Thermostats.

Version 1.1:

This is a small update for anyone using Composer 2.7 and have upgraded the touch screens to use the new communications agent.

This is a C4Z file. You should treat this as a new driver and not an update.

System Requirements:

  • Control4 Composer 2.2+
  • Control4 5″ or 7” Touch Screen or MyHomePC application. NOT compatible with T3 touch screens C4-TT7, C4-WALL7 and C4-WALL10
  • 4Store Account setup and programmed in the project.

Driver Download:

Some browsers require you Right click save as

Getting Started:

You will need to purchase a license from the BlackWire Dealer Store and enter the Director MAC address when purchasing. You will receive 2 emails. The first is your order confirmation with a link to this page. The second email will come a few minutes later with the keycode to activate the driver IF you provided us with the director MAC address when you made your purchase.

Step1: Close composer and place the driver in the My Documents/Control4/Drivers folder

Step2: Open composer and under System Design go to a floor you want to be visible and select a room that will NOT be hidden in navigator.

Step 3. Click Search on the top left and leave the Device Type as Others then Select the manufacture BlackWire Software. Then select your driver.

Step 4: Enter the license key into the Key box and click set. Ensure that the License Status says License Verified after you click set. If it does not contact BlackWire

Step 5: Assign a touch screen:

At the top of the driver there is an Assigned Touch Screen box. On the far right click Select. It will bring up a box that allows you to designate the touch screens and myhomepc devices. When finished click OK. IMPORTANT: If you add a touch screen to the project later you will need to add them to the list.

Step 6: Support Contact Line 1 & 2:

Every time the app is loaded, this information will be visible. This is a great place to put a dealer contact name/number/email address etc. When you fill out each line click Set on the right. If both lines are left blank, no contact information will be displayed.  IMPORTANT: Limit the non text characters to       @ , . – If you want to use the & logo you MUST do &amp: if you dont use that then the app will NOT load!

Support Instructions:

The info you put here is displayed on the next page after you select a floor. To put info on the second line you must put 20 spaces in between the text as seen in the example.

FYI. You only need to set up the Support Contact and Instructions info on the first driver in the project. The rest of the drivers should have this information left blank (when doing multiple floors).

Assigning what floors / rooms show up in the app:

Floor and Room Names: When you load the app you are going to see a list of Floors. See the last section in here called Multiple Floors for detailed information on a naming scheme. Once you have selected a floor in the app you will see all of the room names on the left. Name the rooms your devices. Example room name would be Bar Projector or Patio Tv etc.

Floors: The app works by populating devices on each floor the driver is on. It’s best to put all of the devices you want visible in the app on a floor. In the example provided, 2 floors were created.

The 1st floor has a room called BlackWire Brewery. This is what room you will want to put the touch screen devices. This will make it so when they get power cycled they boot into that room.  This is the name that will be at the top of the touch screen all the time. You will not use any controls in this room on the touch screen except to load the Quick Control App.

2nd Floor: This is the main project floor. This will have all of your rooms and devices. We recommend you name the room the device name. You can see what we have done in our example.

You complete normal bindings like you would with any other project. The display device is the video end point and same goes for audio etc. The only thing special we are doing is naming the rooms.

Make sure the QuickControl driver is installed in a room that is visible. If the room is hidden in navigator, the app won’t load. In the attached example the room Rack is hidden from navigator because we don’t want it loading as an available room in navigator.

Multiple Floors:

You may also split up a project and put the driver on multiple floors to cut down on what is available per interface. An example would be if you had a bar with 3 main areas which would be an Upstairs, Sports Area and Main Restaurant. You would create 3 floors and put the appropriate rooms on those floors for the AV devices then put a copy of the driver on all 3 floors. Copy and paste your activation key as well. Please note that the Support Contact Lines 1 & 2 can only be filled out in one of the drivers.

Once you have created your multi floor system when you load the app you will be able to see the 3 floors and touch which one you want to control. By selecting which touch screen devices can control those rooms you can also limit touch screens from controlling areas you don’t want them to.

Project Setup:

The application is based off of available navigator devices. This simplifies implementing the app in new and existing projects with minimal programming.

Audio/Video Sources:  All visible devices are programmed under the Navigator Properties for the room under the Watch and Listen Menu. The devices will be displayed in the order you have Watch then Listen set up as.  You will want to hide the devices you normally would since there’s no reason to select them ie TVs them selves etc.

Example Setup: For Video only zones you would want ALL devices HIDDEN under listen but keep the devices you want selectable under watch.

Example Setup: For Audio only zones you would want ALL devices HIDDEN under watch but keep the devices you want selectable under listen.

If you have the same source available under watch and listen you will get 2 icons and only 1 of them will select video. So make sure you have each room set up properly.

Custom Icons:

To use the custom icons below simply _BWi?? to the end of each source name in composer. The ?? = the number you see in the example below. An example of a Polycom unit name in composer would be  Polycom_BWi09 or a playstation would be Playstation_BWi17  etc

For a higher resolution view of the icons click this link

Favorites (Custom Buttons):

To use custom buttons with our app in composer go to Agents – Macros and then create a new macro. When creating a new macro you must make its name begin with bws. So an example of an All Off button would be bwsAll Off or bwsAll On. To add events to these macros go to programming – macros and then place the actions you want to happen when that button is pressed.

QC Macros

FYI. If you do not have a macros option under the Agents click the Add button and select Macros.

Lights, Light Scenes and Blinds: Just like the AV devices it is under the navigator settings of each room except in this case they are all combined. If you have 5 rooms with a few lights available in each all of those lights will be combined and displayed under the Lights button. The same goes for scenes and blinds. Don’t worry if you have duplicates either. The app will not show you any duplicate device. Just be sure to name all of your devices differently so 2 lights are not named the same. PROGRAMMING TIP: If you want to keep things simple you may want to pick one room to do all of the light, light scene and blind programming on. Meaning hide all of those type items in every room except one. This makes changes easier since its all based on a single room.

Thermostats: Thermostats work like the other devices with one exception. Each room can have a thermostat binding under the Connections tab. Click connections and then click the room name. If any room has a t-stat binding the app will display that thermostat as well as display all of the thermostats available under the navigator controllers

Once you have done all of your navigator bindings refresh navigator then load the app
